How I Got Into Barnes & Noble

“Always have a copy of your book with you, wherever you go.”

This is the advice I was given by my mentor and a coach as I was publishing my first book, and I am so glad I listened.

On New Years Eve, 2022 I was attending a New Years Eve party with my fiancé and brought several copies of my book to share with my friends, who I knew would be at the celebration. Just a few days prior, Natalie and I had been talking about how could I get my self-published book into Barnes & Noble and I figured it might take a few months to get introduced to the right people to see if I could make it happen, without even knowing if it was even possible. Little did I know that this evening would help accelerate that process for me and Wembly the Pug.

As fortune would have it, I met someone who was responsible for introducing a Local Author program to the stores! Turns out he liked my book and expressed interest in introducing me to several of the local Barnes & Noble locations near me and now I am so fortunate to be a part of the Local Author Program!

More great news, I have also been invited to participate in a Storytime event for those same locations. How great is that?!

The lesson learned is to “Be Prepared”, which is the motto of the Boy Scouts, and something that I try and live up to.

I’m glad that I was prepared on New Years Eve.
